From the Director/Curator:

"The Alexey von Schlippe Gallery of Art was founded in 1992 by Julia Pavone and David Madacsi, (Professor Emeritus, Physics Dept., UConn, friend and colleague of Alexey von Schlippe). It is located within the magnificently restored Branford House Mansion, overlooking the Long Island Sound. The AvS Gallery exhibits the work of regional, national and international artists. Our purpose is to offer significant exposure to artists from across the complete spectrum of artistic expression, especially those doing innovative work. We believe this will afford the public access and exposure to an enhanced diversity of creativity, particularly by artists of this region.

The Arts at the University of Connecticut, Avery Point, brings national, International and regional artists, playwrights, poets, musicians and actors together in a public series of exciting visual and performing arts productions. From art exhibitions, gallery talks and poetry nights, to cabaret theatre, musical and comic performances, the Arts at Avery Point present a unique fusion of creative energy and community involvement in a magnificent setting."
